PGHL Announces New High School Division for the 2026-27 Season

The Pacific Girls Hockey League (PGHL) is thrilled to announce the launch of its new High School Division, a significant step forward in supporting the continued growth of girls hockey throughout California and states on the West Coast.

More recently, grassroots girls hockey efforts have led to tremendous growth across the region. Smaller clubs and developing hockey communities have worked tirelessly to introduce more girls to the game, creating new opportunities for players to learn, compete, and develop a lifelong passion for hockey.

As participation continues to expand, the PGHL recognizes the importance of providing additional pathways for female athletes to stay engaged in the sport during their high school years. The new High School Division is designed to create meaningful competition, strengthen local rivalries, and offer a flexible, accessible environment for players from emerging and established programs alike.

“Our goal is simple: keep more girls playing hockey for longer,” said PGHL Commissioner Becki Winckler. “The growth we are seeing at this age group out west is inspiring, and this new division is a direct response to the needs of players, families, and clubs who are helping drive that momentum.”

The High School Division will provide another avenue for athletes to continue developing their skills, build friendships, and experience the unique benefits that come from being part of a team. By expanding opportunities at the high school level, the PGHL hopes to strengthen the overall girls hockey ecosystem and support the next generation of players in western states.

The future of girls hockey in the Pacific District has never been brighter, and the PGHL is excited to help lead the way.

We look forward to welcoming teams, players, coaches, and families to the inaugural season of the PGHL High School Division.
